The Mentos idea dates to 1932, when the Van Melle brothers imagined a peppermint-flavoured sweet during a train journey. The familiar roll format arrived in 1960.
Ingredients
Sugar, glucose syrup, fruit juices (raspberry, watermelon, strawberry, pineapple, orange, lemon, blueberry, grape, passion fruit, blackcurrant, lychee, lime, banana, cherry) (2%), coconut oil, citric acid, starch, flavourings, maltodextrin, cocoa butter, thickeners (gellan gum, cellulose gum, gum arabic), emulsifier (sucrose esters of fatty acids), glazing agent (carnauba wax), colourings (anthocyanins, caramel, curcumin, beta-carotene, beetroot red).
