Fairtrade Original grew from a Dutch initiative founded in 1959 and describes itself as the world's first Fairtrade organisation. A defining moment came in 1973, when Paul Meijs imported 50,000 kilograms of fairly purchased coffee from small farmers in Guatemala. Today the range connects coffee and pantry ingredients with trading relationships and recipes developed with producers in their countries of origin.

Pantry's current Fairtrade Original range covers coffee, rice, coconut milk, curry pastes and Asian cooking ingredients, with products such as Mild Filtercoffee, Basmati Rice and Organic Soy Sauce.
