Kesbeke started in 1948, when Charles Kesbeke opened a small pickling business in a cellar near Amsterdam's Waterlooplein. Gherkins and onions were washed, brined and packed largely by hand. The family business later moved to Bos en Lommer and remains closely associated with Amsterdam table pickles.
