      The foundation for the British trademark's success was laid by John Chivers in 1805 when he planted his first fruit farm in Cambridge. Due to the positive feedback from the local jam producers, his son Stephen eventually decided to make his own jam. In 1873, the first Chivers jam was produced, made from the family's own fruit.
