Nestlé accepted that challenge. Max Morgenthaler, the inventor of instant coffee, had 1 mission: to create a delicious cup of coffee by adding only water. Max and his team set to work to invent an instant coffee that retains the natural taste of coffee. And with results! NESCAFÉ was founded in 1938. With NESCAFÉ, a combination of the first three letters of Nestlé and Café.
