Jan van Delft founded Van Delft Biscuits in Koog aan de Zaan in 1880. The bakery moved to Harderwijk in 1958 and became an early adopter of conveyor-belt ovens for spiced biscuits. It is now strongly associated with pepernoten and other seasonal Dutch treats.
