The Mentos idea dates to 1932, when the Van Melle brothers imagined a peppermint-flavoured sweet during a train journey. The familiar roll format arrived in 1960.
Ingredients
Sugar, glucose syrup, coconut oil, licorice root extract (1.4%), ammonium chloride, starch, maltodextrin, cocoa butter, natural mint flavourings and natural flavouring, thickeners (gellan gum, cellulose gum, acacia gum), emulsifier (sucrose esters of fatty acids).
