Use the named sweet variety as part of a mixed sweets bowl or a dessert display. Keep contrasting textures and flavours separate until serving so people can choose the pieces they enjoy.
The Mentos idea dates to 1932, when the Van Melle brothers imagined a peppermint-flavoured sweet during a train journey. The familiar roll format arrived in 1960.
